Hello again!
Every time I realize how long it has been since I left for University, I am still blown away. It is still difficult to fathom that I have been living on my own, embarking on such an adventure, and starting this immense chapter of my life for almost 6 weeks! To be honest, it has flown by in a ways I would have never expected, and the challenges that I feared would crush me, have not seemed so difficult after all.
Of course, when there are changes in circumstance, living, and environment, there are adjustments to be made. Which to be frank, I assumed would drive me mad; yet I have come to the realization that when enough effort is put forth, nothing can whither ambition, no matter how much change is encountered.
In any event, although I still honor my fundamental food/eating values, I have had to adjust some aspects of my healthy lifestyle in some sense, simply due to money and recourse availability issues. So I have gathered a list of my college favorites that I have become obsessed with in the past 6 weeks, and that have had been tremendous aids in maintaing my healthy lifestyle.
1. Bars
For those times that I have 15 minutes between one class ( that is on one end of this very large campus) and the next (which is on the complete opposite side of this very large campus) bars become my best friend.
My most preferred bars are the fruit and nut Larabars (for taste) as well as for the fact that they are completely kosher, non-gmo, gluten free, and made with the most basic and pure ingredients. I especially love the Larabar ALT bars because of the added pea protein (for that longer hunger satisfaction)
My other favorite bars include NuGo protein bars (also gluten-free and vegan) not pictured.
2. Cold Pressed Juices
Okay, so if you have been following along with my blog, or my Instagram, you would know how much of an obsession cold-pressed juices have become for me. How could they possibly not be? They are so absolutely convenient for a busy, on-campus living, college girl like me, and they are so amazingly delicious. I have fallen in love with so many brands of juices ( including ones I have yet to introduce). These juices are jam-packed with nutrients that I do not get as easily as I was able to get back at home. They are completely organic, with nothing processed ( at least the ones I buy and recommend), and they are perfect for on the go, in a breakie smoothie, or for detoxifying!
3. Organic Green Tea
Speaking of detoxifying, I have fallen even more in love with organic green teas. I have always loved tea, but I have grown an even fonder appreciation for these little bags of amazingness. Filled with natural antioxidants that help with detoxifying, they also has major benefits for burning fat, improving alertness and brain function, and overall health! Love me some green tea!
I also love organic green tea with Pomegranate and Acai.
4. Apples & Dates
I am always on a mission to feed myself foods that is in its truest from; hence raw, unprocessed foods. My schedule can be very hectic, so I have to make sure that my bag is always packed with snacks. My absolute favorite on the go snacks (especially mid-mornings) are dates and apples! They are the easiest snacks to pack, and there is nothing processed about a fresh apple, and some juicy dates!
5. Mason Jars
Yes I am definitely on that bandwagon, and I don't care! How can you not love mason jars when they make packing on- the -go juices and smoothies so easy, and so adorable?
These items have made living simply and fully while in college, a lot more manageable;) Stay tuned, because I definitely be updating this as I discover other amazing, cheap, and convenient ways to live healthy, and freely, without sacrificing any goals in the process!
