The Home & The Hustle- Back on Track Circuit Routine

Yep, its back to reality but....

When fitness becomes apart of your lifestlye, it is not difficult to find ways to incorparte it in your daily life. Traveling makes finding ways and means to stay active a litte difficult, and it is at these times that creativity is called for.

I enjoyed my days abroad more than I anticipated, and with each memory I grow fonder and fonder of the experience I was blessed with in the last few weeks.

Now it is back to reality, back to the daily routine, and back to the daily grind. Which if you are anything like me, means finidng time to break a nice, well deserved sweat.

Is it easy to jump right into the swing of things after two weeks of indulgence and daily relaxation? Depends on your attitude. As for me, I am all for the challenge.

So in honor of getting back on track, here is my 'Home Again' circuit, perfect for anyone that could really use some major fitspiration.

The circuits are intense, but the post workout euphoria that it delivers  makes this quick and easy toning routine well worth it.

The weights I listed on the side are not necessary, but for those who are up for the challenge, it offers a great way to boost the intensity and the fat burn.

CIRCUIT ONE:

1. Weighted back squats- 85-115 pounds
     15 reps

2. Weighted lunges -20 pound weights
     15 reps each leg

3. Walls sit- 25 Plate (placed on legs)
    1 minute

Repeat 3x


CIRCUIT TWO:

1. Wide Stance Jump Squats
     20-25 reps

2. Weighted Russian Twists- 10 poubd ball
    30 reps

3.  Wide legged Plank
     1 Minute

Repeat 2-3x


And thats all to it! Staying fit does not have to be a bore, a chore, or a headaque. It means dedication, persistance, will, and the courage to be creative!

Traveling from Paris to Switzerland is like jumping off a packed, fast-paced train full of loud music and loud people, onto a quiet motor boat sailing smoothly on pristine blue waters. 

Switzerland is beautiful. There is no need to over analyze what the country is. Every new sight from the sky scraping mountains, to the  clear waters of the rivers are a postcards waiting to be snapped. Even the cities that are riddled with life form somehow manage to maintain a certain aspect of perfect; the streets are spotless and the shops are endless.

People walk with a certain confidence; most have cigarettes in there mouths, but an agenda on their minds. A punctual, ready for action society is what the Swiss population consists of, and you immediately receive that notion from the moment they greet you in the stern 'Hallo' of the German language.

Aside from the  breathtaking sceneries, and the ready for action culture, the food was the distinguishing factor that separated this experience from any other I have ever had in a foreign place. They love their meat. And their cheese. And their sausages. Oh and lets not forget the bread; a lot of bread.

Fish was my go-to protein source. The Swiss love their grilled trout; and I am not one to complain about that.

Parí Chronicles: Food Photo Diary







Indeed it is, for my small taste of the distinguished city was nothing short of incredible. An awakening happened during my short stay in Parí, accompanied with a culture shock that was far from unpleasant. The opportunity to immerse oneself in another nation, city, or environment, is an opportunity that needs to be grasped and embraced with full force and intention, and I attempted wholeheartedly to pay my respects to that very notion.  Albeit, my experience was merely a glimpse onto the forefront of an immense country, and an even greater population of individuals, yet it was an experience that shall never fade from memory.

The fashion, the antique finds, the people, and the historic landscape are only part of the foundation that molds Paris. The food of course, is a universal force that has the ability to capture the hearts of foodies world wide. 


Something that had never dawned on me until my arrival here in France: the food is  a world power and we are merely its peasants. 

Every where I go I can find a familiar name to a familiar entree, side dish, or dessert. From French fries to baguettes, to Nutella to smoked salmon; the obsession for french food is an unknown phenomenon that is enjoyed by people across nations. French food has always been a staple of a global foodie agenda, with a variety of delicious creations that have spoiled the taste buds of millions world wide.


To indulge in French food does not require a French passport, but the experience of discovering world known treats in their place of origin is a true gift. Needless to say, French food is great, but French food in 'France' is nothing shy of spectacular.

Ladurée on Champs-Élysées

Macaroon Paradise lies within the doors of the Ladurée restaurant on the Champs-Élysées. shopping Strip. Rows of macaroons, along with a variety of pastries and cakes,  align in a  beautiful and colorful array that stretches the entire width of the cashier.

The price is a little high, but the experience and the taste of Ladurée sweet macaroons definitely make this splurge worthwhile.

Gelato Stand inside Tuileries Gardens
Vanilla and Straccialtella Flavored gelato - First time trying Stracciatella gelato and all I can say is: A. Must.Try. That is all.

This hidden gem is famous for some of the best ice cream In Paris. Catch it at a good time, and you will fall in love with the thick creamy flavors of Vanilla, Café, Stracciatella, Caramel and much more.
Catch it at a bad time, and you will still fall in love with such flavors no doubt, but as for the long line for a cone of the chilled treasure, maybe not so much. Don’t worry though, it goes fast, and the ice cream is worth it.

*Spinach Keesh- Cheese, egg, and spinach scrambled and baked onto dough like base; like an omelet pizza.







Café Max on Avenue de la Motte- Picquet
No Parisian trip is complete without a Cappuccino and a basket of fresh beaked Croissants.









Cafés Richard on Rue la Fayette
Herb roasted Chicken and Spiced Green Beans.








L'Auberge Dab on Avenue de Malakoff
Chocolate Chip Ice cream sandwiched between deep-fried dough and drizzled in melted chocolate.









Giant Salted Pretzel on the Eiffel Tower
How to eat a giant Pretzel: With a view overlooking all of Parí of course. 









Nutella Crepe in Sacré Coeur
A Parisian delicacy and favorite- The Nutella crepe comes in all shapes and sizes. Some come with fruit, and some come with just the taste of smooth Nutella goodness. No matter which crepe relic you are, no crepe  in France fails to impress.

Best of all is that almost every major hub or tourist attraction is lined with creperies for the enjoyment of all sweet-thoothed foodies alike.











Gelato in Sacré Coeur
Is my obsession with the Italian dessert obvious yet? The only thing that makes eating gelato sweeter is eating it while walking down the streets of Paris.












Angelina on Rue di Rivoli
One cannot visit Paris and not at least attempt to try the hot chocolate at Angelina Cafe.

If the Tiffany-styled beauty of a restaurant was not enough to put you into a trance, the seemingly endless supply of every Parisian dessert imaginable will have you overwhelmed. A Paris-to-do must.
